LED Behaviors for Common Slingbox Scenarios

Here are the LED behaviors for the most common Slingbox scenarios:

Network and Power Lights On

The Slingbox is ready to stream when the Network and Power lights are on and not blinking.

Slingbox Streaming

If the Sling Logo LED is illuminated, someone is connected to the Slingbox. When the user disconnects, the Sling Logo LED goes off.

Unconfigured Slingbox

When the Sling Logo light pulses steadily, it indicates that you can configure the Slingbox using Setup on Slingbox.com or the SlingPlayer application.

Blinking Network Light

The Slingbox has not received a valid IP address from your router. The Slingbox needs its own IP address (a unique network number provided by your network router) to work within your home network. To remedy this, verify that the Slingbox is connected to your router and follow with a reset of your Slingbox (see Hard Resetting the Slingbox, below).

Blinking Power Light

There is a problem with the power source to the Slingbox. To troubleshoot:

  • Verify that the Slingbox is connected to the wall (without a surge protector).
  • Try different outlets.
  • Perform a hard reset (see Hard Resetting the Slingbox, below).

Network Light is Off

Make sure that the Slingbox is physically connected to your router using the supplied Ethernet cable, or using an optional Ethernet wall plug or bridge. Also make sure that your router is powered on.

Power Light is Off

Check that the power supply is firmly plugged into a live electrical outlet. Also check that the connector from the power supply cord is plugged properly into the back of the Slingbox.

Other Slingbox Scenarios
